Meet Dr. Uddin

Dr. Uddin is a primary care optometrist with Koch Eye Associates. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Rhode Island Optometric Association. Dr. Uddin is a native of Massachusetts and now resides in Rhode Island with her husband. She enjoys running, hiking, reading, and traveling.

Areas of Expertise

As a primary care optometrist, Dr. Uddin specializes in a wide range of eye care. She is experienced in dry eye care, glaucoma management, and pre- and post-operative co-management of cataract and refractive surgery patients. She also regularly performs comprehensive eye exams and glasses and contact lens services.

Education

Dr. Uddin received dual Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Connecticut. She earned her doctorate in optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. While there, she received the Varilux Student Grant Award and the Marchon Practice Management Award of Excellence. Dr. Uddin completed externships with honors in Massachusetts and Connecticut. These included the Martha Eliot Health Center in Boston, the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Tallman Eye Associates in Lawrence, and Rocky Hill Eye Associates in Connecticut. She also participated in a service trip to Belize where she provided eye care to underserved communities.

Right from the start with initial evaluation followed immediately with Amy White to schedule surgery and all the details before and after including pre and post surgical procedure eye drops. Glad I chose KOCH/Dr Gerber for the cataract surgery. Dr Fantoni provided thorough follow up care after each eye surgery. The surgery location was top notch and professionally well staffed resulting in a smooth experience in and out. I would recommend the mild sedation protocol. One area that could be improved would be ability to speak to the right person in a reasonable time when calling the office. Also their portal is easy to use but the patient education documents are impossible to view. Replies to sent messages/questions are nonexistent. There was one hiccup on my first day of surgery, I was the first person in line for surgery that morning, when I got to the equipment location we found there was an equipment problem. They were able to switch quickly to the back up machine, so there were no holdups to do that. But my point is that should not have happened."

"I recently had my cataracts removed by Dr. Sayegh. He did an excellent job, explained everything that would happen even through the surgery itself. Although I was a bit disappointed that I saw a different person for each testing processed two additional doctors for the follow up visits, everyone was very professional and knowledgeable in their area. Kudos to the follow up docs: Dr. Amy Uddin and Dr. Clyde Haworth for their patience in answering every question I had and then some. Thanks to these folks, I have better than 20/20 vision in each eye!"
