Cataracts, or the age-related clouding of the eye lenses, typically develop after the age of 40 and are treated with glasses or surgical techniques.

In laser cataract surgery, extremely precise digital and laser technologies are used to make the incisions before removing and replacing the cataract.

In traditional cataract surgery, a blade is used to incise the cornea, and the cataract (cloudy lens) is removed and replaced with an artificial lens.

IOLs, or intraocular lenses, are available in many versions and are used as the artificial replacement lenses for cataract removal surgery patients.

In a YAG laser capsulotomy, a tiny hole is created in the back of the capsule that holds the eye lens to clear clouded vision after cataracts surgery.
