Meet Dr. Burns

Kristen Burns, O.D. is a primary care optometrist at Koch Eye Associates, a Claris Vision company. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Rhode Island Optometric Association. Dr. Burns is a native of Rhode Island where she currently resides. When she is not in the office, she loves spending time with her family, traveling, boating, paddle boarding, and snowboarding.

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Burns specializes in the treatment and management of ocular diseases, such as glaucoma, and the pre- and post-operative co-management of cataract and refractive surgery patients. She also regularly sees patients for comprehensive eye exams to screen for any ocular abnormalities and provides glasses and contact lens services.

Education

Dr. Burns graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular cell biology. She received her doctorate of optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA and graduated with distinguished honors as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society. While earning her degree, Dr. Burns completed extensive externships. These included the South End Community Health Center in Boston, MA, the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Providence, RI, Ocean State Eye Care in Warwick, RI, and Newport Naval Health Center in Newport, RI.
