MEET DR. LOPORCHIO
Dr. Dean Loporchio is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained retina specialist dedicated to the medical and surgical treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases. He is committed to helping patients preserve, restore, and maintain their vision through advanced treatment options and compassionate, patient-centered care.
Dr. Loporchio earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Boston College and a Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Rutgers University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He received his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School before completing his Ophthalmology Residency at Brown University and a Surgical Retina Fellowship at Boston University.
His areas of expertise include age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, vitreous disorders, and advanced medical and surgical retina care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Loporchio serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Brown University and is an Attending Physician at Rhode Island Hospital. He has also contributed to ophthalmic research through numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Loporchio believes that patient education is an important part of exceptional eye care. He works closely with each patient to help them understand their condition, treatment options, and long-term vision goals.
