Kristen Burns, O.D.

Dr. Burns is a primary care optometrist at Koch Eye Associates, a Claris Vision company.

Dr. Burns graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Cell Biology. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA and graduated with distinguished honors as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society.

While earning her degree, Dr. Burns completed extensive externships, including the South End Community Health Center in Boston, MA, the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Providence, RI, Ocean State Eye Care in Warwick, RI and Newport Naval Health Center in Newport, RI.

She specializes in comprehensive eye exams, glasses and contact lens services, therapeutic intervention and the pre- and post-operative co-management of cataract and refractive surgery patients.

Dr. Burns is a native of Rhode Island where she currently resides. She loves spending time with her family. In her free time she enjoys traveling, boating, paddle boarding and snowboarding.

The Greater New Bedford Surgical and Laser Center

The Greater New Bedford Surgical and Laser Center was opened in 1986 with the express purpose of rendering high quality, state of the art eye surgery to patients of all ages, especially those with cataracts, glaucoma, or cornea disease. The Center is designed specifically with the needs of the patient in mind. The entire process from initial examination to final outcome is conducted in a pleasant comfortable environment.

After a patient decides to have surgery, he or she is assigned his or her own Surgical Counselor who is available to answer questions and provide assistance. These individuals are specially trained to assist the patient throughout the entire surgical experience, including follow up care for as long as necessary. Patients are encouraged to contact their counselor for any questions, no matter how simple or complex.
