Dr. Geltzer's area of specialization is:
Retinal and Vitreous Diseases and Surgery and Diabetic Retinopathy.

Dr. Geltzer is a Senior Surgeon at the Rhode Island and Miriam Hospital as well as Chief of Ophthalmology Emeritus at the Women & Infant's Hospital. He is also an Associate Professor of Surgery (Ophthalmology) at Brown University School of Medicine. He is an Attending in Retinal Disease at the Eye Clinic of the Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Geltzer has written many publications on diabetic retinal pathology, new technologies and new diagnostic procedures for retinal disease including Retinitis Pigmentosa and Laser technology. He is presently developing a new form of retinal diabetic screening utilizing Telemedicine.

After graduating with Honors from Wesleyan University, he finished his medical school training at the University of Rochester. Both his Internship in Medicine and Residency in Ophthalmology took place at Yale University. He obtained his Fellowship in Retinal disease at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland. He also trained in Retinal Vitreous disease with Dr. Ronald Michels at the Wilmer Institute John Hopkins Medical School. Dr. Geltzer introduced Retinal Fluorescein Angiography and Retinal Laser treatment to Southeastern New England.

Dr. Geltzer and his wife reside in Providence.
