Team Koch Eye

Team Koch Eye is a compact, focused Olympic campaign team committed to winning Olympic and international medals during the 2004 - 2008 Olympic cycles.

The Team Koch Eye "A" boat recently won the 2002 Tornado US National Championship, defending their 2001 title. They finished 1st at the 2002 Rolex Miami Olympic Classes Regatta; were ranked #1 on the 2002 US SAILING Tornado team and made the 2003 team. Helmsman Lars Guck is also the 2002 A-Class North American Champion.

Olympic Sailing is among the most successful Olympic sports in the United States. Our athletes have won 54 Olympic medals, a record unmatched by any other country.

The Tornado is the highest performance boat in the Olympics. This 20 foot catamaran is raced by a two-person crew and is capable of burst speeds in excess of 35 mph. The Tornado tests every aspect of the sailors' skill, strength, agility, and endurance.

In the 1980s, the US crew of Randy Smyth and Jay Glaser twice won the Tornado World Championship, and won a Silver Medal at the 1984 Olympic Games. Randy returned in 1992 to win another Silver Medal at the Barcelona Games. Throughout the 1990s, US crews competed at the "top 10" level of the Tornado world fleet.

Yet, as with every Olympic sport, the challenges of remaining the best in the world continue to grow. Olympic class sailing has become a year-round sport; and competitors are now free to seek corporate sponsorship to underwrite the costs of mounting a successful Olympic Campaign.  Koch Eye Associates is proud to be a part of this Olympic Campaign.
