LASEK

After considerable research, it was discovered that a modification of LASIK could be performed in many patients without the need for a stromal flap. This breakthrough eliminates the need for making a cut on the cornea and eliminates the possibility of a flap complication. It is particularly advantageous when a patient has a thin cornea and cutting a flap is not advised.

LASEK is not quite as comfortable as LASIK, and the vision does not clear as quickly. For this reason, LASEK is performed one eye at a time, with the second eye treated a week or two later.

Koch Eye Laser Vision Centers were among the first to offer LASEK, as well as LASIK, to our patients. This allows us to customize treatment according to a patient's wishes or needs.
